Eddie Griffin’s Crashed Enzo Restored

Eddie Griffin - the actor and comedian - crashed his Ferrari Enzo during a promotional shoot for the new movie ‘Redline’. Everyone was convinced that the Ferrari was totaled and beyond hope or repair. That is why we were surprised to find it up for auction this week.

Matt Groner has resurrected the priceless Ferrari. The Texas broker deals in wrecked luxury and sportscars, and usually sells them as is. With the Redline Enzo, however, Groner decided to put in the effort to restore the vehicle. Since the Enzo’s chassis is composed of separate carbon fiber sections bolted to the center tub, Groner had simply to call up the factory and order the replacement parts.

The parts cost $300k and took months to arrive. The restoration is now complete and is for sale for $1.3 million. Steep price - but I’m sure someone will want to get their hands on it.

Ferrari Owner Chromes 599 GTB Fiorano

Those who own a Ferrari know very well that they need to always be painted red. It is something that is (almost) always done and even the purest Ferrari enthusiast will laugh you off if you even suggest anything else.

That is why we found it interesting that a Ferrari owner in Saudi Arabia chose to chrome his 599 GTB Fiorano. I think it is safe to say that he wants his personal Ferrari to stand out in the crowd and to get some attention. Though why he actually chose this particular color is a mystery to us.

Ferrari 2008 Concept Rendering

The new Ferrari concept is brilliant and is a perfect example of what can happen when you mix passion for the car with a unique mind. You can tell from the rendering that they A-pillar is designed like the Maserati. Because of this it makes it a little hard to imagine that a front intake like this is actually on a Ferrari.

However, it is there and it is not bad looking at all. It has the agressive and yet smooth lines that we crave for in every perfect Ferrari. Sign us up for one of those if they make it to production.

Ferrari 149 Spy Shots Revealed

The reveal of the new Ferrari 149 GT California is coming up and with it we are getting more and more spy shots. Most of these shots have been out of focus and we are only getting a small picture of what to expect from the new car. However, this new photo offers a few more details that we have been waiting for.

The new photos show us the steeply raked windscreen that stops into an artificially elongated trunk that we are told holds a folding hard top. The front clip is sporting a large radiator intake and the hood stretches back in true Ferrari style. As reported before, Project F149 is rumored to be powered by a 4.7-liter V8 producing 480 to 500 hp. More details are expected soon. We’re standing by.

Ferrai Not Happy With Formula One Changes

The FIA stated that all drivers must use a hybrid in the Formula One 2009 season if they wish to compete. These new rules are being enforces in order to meet the standards that have been set up by the Kinetic Energy Recovery System.

Teams all across the board have been caught off guard by this new rule. Ferrari was one of the first to speak out. Piero Ferrari – son of Enzo and Vice President of Ferrari – was noticeably angry by the change and is afraid that they will lose thousands of dollars trying to create new engines for their team.

Yet, not all on the Ferrari team feel that this change is negative. Michael Schumacher is looking forward to the new challenger that has been placed in front of them and said that the environment is not the only thing that will benefit from it – but also the drivers.

Arlen Ness “Ferrari Bike” To Be Shown Off At Exhibit

Arlen Ness is famous for the parts company that he built for himself and the unique bikes that he created. Many of us know these classic bikes – but not all of us have had the opportunity to see them up close. This year we are getting that chance.

Now you can see his favorite bikes like the “Smooth-Ness” – which was inspired by Bugatti and the twin supercharged “Ferrari-Bike” on display at the exhibit being held at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Pickerington, Ohio. The name of the exhibit has been appropriately named “Awesome-Ness”. The exhibit will begin July 24th and will be there till June of 2009.

Chinese To Release F430 Cell Phone

What better way to call your closest friends up than on your new Ferrari cell phone? That’s right! The Chinese are showing off their love of Ferraris by creating a Ferrari F430 cell phone - which is set to be released later this year.

Like their vehicles – Ferrari has made sure that only the best will be offered to those who purchase one. The phone will be equipped with a 2.2” LCD display that is touch sensitive, dual band support, USB connectivity, video player, music player, a memory expansion slot, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and of course the usual pre-installed demo games.

The surprising thing about this phone is the price tag – which is only $190. This is a far cry from the amount that it would cost you to buy a phone from their Italian rivals.

Ferrari Auction In Fiorano Sparks Interest

RM’s second annual event is just around the corner and we are excited to see the magnificent Ferraris that will be up for auction to the highest bidder. It is a night where we can expect to see some of the rarest, historical, and best Ferraris in existence.

We have been given a sneak peek at what we can expect to see at the auction. One of the four-door Pinin prototypes and two of the 250 GT California Spyders are just some of the great and rare thoroughbreds that will be there. Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman’s rare 1951 212 Inter PF prototype will also be there.

Other top Ferraris that we are looking forward to is the original 1971 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder, special 612 Scagliettis (taken from the tour of Magic India Discovery), 2001 550 Barchetta, and many Dinos, 250 GT’s, Daytonas, 275’s, F40’s, and two Enzos. There will also be a number of the modern F1 and GT racers. The event will be held May 18th at the Fiorano test track in Maranello.

Could We Be Seeing Ferrari’s First Motorcycle?

Ferrari has made its mark on the world with the powerful and stylish supercars that they have built and produced. Many of us have wondered what it would be like if Ferrari were to build a motorcycle. Would it be as good as some of the other top motorcycles or would it be better?

A scale model of what a Ferrari motorcycle would look like has been made – but whether or not we will actually see this bike in production. This scale model was created by a member of Scale Auto Magazine – but we hope that it will inspire the designers and engineers at Ferrari.

Husmen 699 GTO Rendering May Go To Production

We got our hands on a new Ferrari rendering called the – Husmen 699 GTO – and are pleased to report that it is a car that we are hoping will eventually go somewhere. The Husmen has the design that we look for in a Ferrari – which is no surprise seeing where it got its inspiration from.

This Ferrari was created by Emre Husmen. Emre is a Transportation Design student that attends IED. He came up with this design by taking cues from the Ferraris of the past which include; the 250 GTO, P4, 250 TR, and the recent 599 GTB Fiorano. Husmen told us that the dimensions are very similar to that found on the most recent 599 except that it would be 200 kg lighter. The lighter weight would come from the carbon fiber body and the V8 twin supercharged engine that will run on biofuel.

Husmen went on to say that the car would also be equipped with a hydraulic suspension and a rear backp camera to help the driver steer its way around parking and any traffic situations that arise.

Most renderings we see are great to look at – but rarely make it to the production line. It seems though we might see this stylish Ferrari roaming the streets within a few years. Husmen has been talking to a coachbuilder in Italy who is thinking very seriously about putting the 699 GTO into production.
